I found I could say things with color and shapes that I couldn't say any other way
- things I had no words for.

Opportunity Quilt News
Allie White
As
Opportunity Quilt chairwoman I would like to have quality control to make
something nice that people will want to buy tickets for and keep the tradition
of beautiful opportunity quilts that this guild is known for. Therefore I
am only comfortable working from a complete pattern so we have a finished
product picture in front of us and fabric measurements, etc.
If you are interested in working on the Opportunity Quilt, contact me. I will
then decide on a time and place to meet.
At
the first meeting whoever wants to join me on committee will choose three or
more patterns for the entire guild to vote on. Patterns can be brought or
submitted earlier.
After
the pattern is selected we will have a buying trip to purchase fabric and then
the next meeting will be for cutting and packaging of blocks to hand out to
guild members.
Excited
to see how this develops into our next great
Opportunity Quilt.
Opportunity Quilt.

PROGRAM
Marie Centeno and Ginny Duhm
The programs for 2016 are being planned now. In addition to our speakers and classes, we are planning a 2016 Friendship Quilt, a quilting retreat and a Road Trip.

The Retreat location is to be determined but the time will most likely be in late September. If you have suggestions for a retreat location, contact Kathy Weinstein. It's time to finish our 2013-14 Friendship Quilts or any other Friendship quilts that may still be in the UFO stage.

The Quilters' Christmas Tree
Over 500 spools have been collected and are in the process of being decorated with fabric at Fridays' QCM. Once the covered spools are waterproofed, we will string them with buttons between them. These will be hung on the Quilters' Christmas tree in the Village along with quilted fabric chains and solar lights (compliments of Judy Keim.)
Decorating the tree will take place weather permitting
Wednesday December 1 in the afternoon.
Felicity Watson has volunteered to make 200 simple Christmas stockings for the Christmas in the Village celebration. While this is not a Guild project, Felicity needs some "elves" to help her out.he

Thimble -It can be found in quilt shops and on line. they are pieces of plastic that adhere to the finger. MJ's tip is to cut the oval Thimble-It in half to fit your finger better. Place them on the fingers most likely to be callouses needlework.
For those of us who still have problems squaring up a finished quilt, here's a tutorial from QuiltingJetGirl Blog using alternate tools.
